2 volumes 4to (28.5 cm), XLII, 548 pp; [8], 549-916 pp. Publisher's cloth with dust jackets, top edges painted green (djs clipped and slightly rubbed at extremities). Edited by Alexandre Koyré and I. Bernard Cohen. Newton's Principia is his most significant published work. The first edition appeared in London in 1687, followed by the second Cambridge edition in 1713 (reprinted in Amsterdam in 1714 and 1723) and the third and final authorized London edition in 1726. This edition, prepared by two leading Newtonian scholars, presents a facsimile of the third edition's text, incorporating variants from earlier editions, along with annotations, alterations, and corrections from Newton's own copies of the first and second editions.
