Sebastian Zorn, ex-cop, Renaissance man and leader of the string quartet The Parisian Marvels, meets the mysterious Dr. Calistus Munbar, who offers him hospitality for the night—and the chance of a lifetime. For the good doctor has engineered an innovation like no other—a man-made island full of technological wonders, scientific miracles…and investors from every continent. The other quartet members are over the moon about being offered citizenship to this new floating country, but it'll take more to convince Sebastian: her name is Ramona, and she just arrived from the future to tell him the island (and the world) is doomed—unless he can save it.
