Israel has been at war or preparing for war since its foundation in 1948. Can it survive? This book by an Israeli born citizen is a unique counter-history of Zionism. Davis examines: The origins of Zionist ideology and its subsequent conquest of Palestine How Western pioneers of the new State became the ruling elite and systematically disadvantaged the Oriental Jews 'Socialist'' Israel as the cosy possession of a handful of inner men, reliant upon US capital. This is the story of how an interrelated ruling elite can destroy Israel from within.
