Israeli Armored Corps : History, Equipment, Operations, 1948 to 2024

A detailed, illustrated history of the Israeli tank force, from the early wars for independence to the streets of Gaza in 2024.

This is the complete history of Israeli tanks and tankers, stretching from the First World War to the present. Included are hundreds of excellent photographs, maps, tables, and charts. Beyond all of that visual and technical information, the authors have also included a detailed narrative history of the Israeli Armored Corps and its precursor organizations. All the key leaders are profiled and the major battles and missions are detailed.

The IDF is exceptional not only in its combat record but also in the variety of vehicles that it has adopted, including both domestic and foreign designs from all over the world. These include the American Sherman and M60, the British Cromwell and Centurion, the French AMX-13, and finally the native Merkava, just to name a few.

Authored by two veterans of the Swiss Armored Corps who traveled extensively in Israel for their research, this definitive volume is a must for tank fans and modern military historians.

Marc Lenzin is a business executive and veteran of the Swiss tank branch. He is a regular contributor to the military journal Schweizer Soldat and is a member of the European Military Press Association (EMPA).

Stefan Bühler has served in the Swiss army as a munitions disposal specialist, tank driver, tank commander, and tank company commander. Now he works on tank design and production in an engineering role with the ministry of defense. He is also a regular contributor to Schweizer Soldat and sits on the board of the Swiss Officers' Association of the Tank Corps (Offiziersgesellschaft der Panzertruppen–OG Panzer).
