A historical work on Italian republics by J. C. L. De Sismondi. Jean Charles L�onard de Sismondi (May 19, 1773 June 25, 1842), whose real name was Simonde, was a writer. He is best known for his works on French and Italian history, and his economic ideas. With an armorial bookplate of one M. H. Jaffray to the front pastedown. New edition. Scarce. In a half calf binding with marbled boards. Externally, rubbed, extremities are somewhat worn. Head of backstrip is lifting. Hinges are strained. Internally, firmly bound.
