Iterative Methods for Queuing and Manufacturing Systems (Springer Monographs in Mathematics)

An introduction to the recent advances and developments in iterative methods for solving Markovian queuing and manufacturing problems. With numerous exercises and fully-worked examples, this book is essential reading for anyone interested in the formulation and computation of queuing and manufacturing systems.

From the reviews of the first edition:

"This book contains the description of how to apply modern iterative numerical methods to solve linear systems to obtain steady state probabilities for the Markov processes under consideration. ... the most important contribution of the book is to the art of constructing suitable preconditioners. ... the core chapters contain interesting methods and examples which seem to be well chosen to pave the path for applying the methods recommended by the author."
