Synopsis
The editors of Izastikup are prolific sticker creators and graffiti painters who have been swapping stickers with artists and collectors from all over the world for the last 10 years. Stickers are wallpapered on every inch of their Milan studio. Sticker making and pasting on any space available has developed into a manic subculture that is becoming an integral part of today's graffiti
culture. Sticker art represents the street as a public space for free expression. As influential British graffiti artist Banksy puts it, "A wall is just a good a place to publish something as anywhere else."
The stickers of New York graffiti artists, Cost and Revs reached a new generation with cryptic messages such as "Real artists don't know they're artists" and "Cost fucker Madonna". Skateboarders and surfers have been creating their own art movement with sticker designs and
graffiti. Shepard Fairey internationally popularized stickers and graffiti techniques through his global Obey the Giant campaign. This book depicts the art movement that started in the streets, now recognized in galleries and museums as art. Featuring the world's best street style artists
including: Buff monster, Futura 2000, Obey - The Giant, Shepard Fairey, Jeremy Fish, Honet, Miss Van, Space Invader, Banksy, and The London Police.
About the Authors
Bo130 graduated from London College of Communication, with degrees in Graphic and Media Design. His work explores different levels of visual communication through animation, art direction, graphic and web design. He experiments and blends different techniques such as painting, stencils, stickers, markers, and spray paint to visually describe his interests and influences. Bo130 has exhibited in galleries across Europe and the US, often collaborating with Microbo. In December, 2006 they participated in the Wooster on Spring project at 11 Spring Street organized by the Wooster Collective.
Microbo studied art in London before moving to Milan. Heavily influenced and inspired by microbiology, she developed a unique visual language using organic shapes, filaments and organisms, which she uses to express life's complexity and diversity. Her paintings, drawings, stickers and stencils embrace a wide range of references, from traditional graffiti style to surrealist imagery. Often collaborating on projects with her partner, Bo130, Microbo's army of underground creatures can be found on the streets and in galleries across Europe and the United States.
The Don is a well respected street artist and curator. He reciently organised a charity auction to benifit AIDS in Milan of Street Art.
