Oval bust-length portrait of Dutch theologian and poet Joannes Wilhelmus Bussingh. Stipple etching and engraving on laid paper, sheet size 173 x 106 mm. Engraving by Hendrik Roosing after De Lein, and published by Johannes Hofhout en Zoon, 1796. Hendrik Roosing (Utrecht 1763 - 1826 Rotterdam) was a Dutch engraver and etcher, as well as draughtsperson. He was the father and teacher of Pieter Roosing. He as active in Rotterdam between 1786 and 1826. In very good condition, although cropped within platemark. A tiny hole in Bussingh's shoulder.
