About this Item
Pictorial stiff wraps. 134 pages. Illustrated with 113 photographic plates in full color and black and white of swords, daggers, mounts and guards. With additional line drawings. The text (title roughly translated) is entirely in Japanese. This copy inscribed "With warmest regards to Mr. Reilly. April, 1967. Kiyoshi Okamoto, Hamae Okamoto." Some of the plates have been annotated in English, presumably by the books recipient, to indicate approximate dates or other details. "The Japanese sword combines unbreakability, rigidity, and lethal cutting power, and it is the in the resolution of these conflicting practical requirements that it emerges as a triumph of the forger's art.As an instrument of clear persuasion, no other blade anywhere has ever been its equal."
