Toned/foxed stitched paper covers; handwritten ink title on front cover; old white cloth binding tape affixed along spine. Toning and some stains to interior leaves. General Johnston defends his decisions in the 1863 Mississippi campaign against Jefferson Davis' aspersions. Article excised from the December 1886 issue of "The North American Review" (Volume 143, No. 361).
