Jacob's Journey: Wisdom to Find Your Way; Strength to Carry On

Jacob's Journey is an ageless tale of wisdom and compassion that follows Jacob the Baker on a journey to restore inner peace - a moving sequel to the international best-seller Jacob the Baker.Once there was a time when Jacob, a poor but pious baker, lived an anonymous life in a timeless community. Then all of that changed, changed forever, when one of Jacob's remarkable little notes to himself found its way into the village's bread. He became regarded as a wise man, and the townspeople sought him out for advice and commentary. All the while, Jacob struggled to maintain his simple life as a baker. Now, when the town decides to honor him, Jacob is caught by their attention. He undertakes a journey to restore his sense of well being, to reconnect with simpler things. Jacob's Journey chronicles that spiritual journey. This is a fable not about being well known, but about knowing yourself well. When Jacob realizes he must leave his house if he is ever to come home, he discovers that the first person he meets along the way is himself. As he puts it: "A man who is alone with himself is not without company." Since each of us is alone on our journey, we sometimes pack our fears for company. From now on, you may want to turn to Jacob, a wise and gentle friend, a friend who allows you distance but is never far away. Here are some of Jacob's s thoughts to take with you along the way:"Taking a moment expands time.""Growing old is a contradiction in terms.""What we see in others is another way of looking at ourselves.""When we shut our eyes, is it the truth that goes into hiding?""A giant is anyone who remembers we are all sitting on someone else's shoulders."This book is a treasure of plain-spoken wisdom, a book about a humble man with a vision that will inspire and comfort you.
