What raises this book above many similar titles is the fascinating introductory chapter on Jacoby's father, Oswald, a legend in the bridge world. This brief biography is full of anecdotes that clearly show both his genius and his eccentricities. Jim Jacoby's bidding methods are variations on standard play and as such are not for beginners; intermediate players should find much here, as everything is clearly described and examples abound.
