Varanasi/Kashi has been a confluence of several religious and philosophical thoughts including Jainism. Four pontiffs (Tirthankara) viz. Suparsvanatha Sreyamsanatha Chandraprabha and Parsvanatha are supposed to have been born in the Varanasi region.
