Etching on thin laid paper laid down to mid-weight Japon paper, 9 5/8 x 7 9/16 inches (244 x 190 mm), narrow to thread margins. Lettered below the image in the lower right margin with Rembrandt's facsimile signature and date: "Rembrandt f. 1647." On the verso of the mount is an area of adhesive residue at the lower right corner, and paper tape tabs at the top and bottom right corner from a former mount (also on the verso of the mount). Inscription in orange pencil in the lower left corner on the verso of the mount. In very good condition with excellent inking. With the 6 and 4 in the date appearing in reverse as described in New Hollstein. [New Hollstein 238a]. A portrait of Jan Six; whole-length, standing in a dark interior, reading a paper at a window at right. A copy in the same direction after Rembrandt's etching of the same title from an edition of the Recueil published by Henri Louis Basan around 1810.
