Packer's very contemporary flair with flowers makes other styles of flower arranging appear stodgy and uninspired by comparison. A well-known designer in England, Packer offers instructions for many of the lovely arrangements included here--yet this is not so much a how-to guide as a delightful sourcebook of ideas. Radiant color photographs by Peter Williams provide the perfect complement to Packer's abundant bouquets, swags, wreaths, and topiaries. These floral displays have a casual elegance that begs to be emulated or, at the very least, applauded for the beauty and freshness of their design. Alice Joyce
