First published in 1949, just after WW2, this is a thirteenth impression of 1961. Jacket sadly a bit tatty. Edge wear chipping and small loss to top and bottom of jacket and spine, corners rubbed with some loss, some slight overall time staining. not price clipped ($3.00), no inscriptions, internally clean tight and square, overall quite a reasonable copy. 166pp, extensively illustrated in colour and b&w. An interesting an early book of Japanese recipes. Aya Kagawa, President of the Women's Nutrition College of Tokyo, was invited to Hawaii in 1948 to give a series of demonstrations of Japanese cooking, sparking a worldwide interest in Japanese cuisine. This little book lays especial emphasis on the quality of the plates and bowls and the aesthetics of presentation.
