About the Author

Yukari Kakita

Born in Saitama Prefecture, Yukari Kakita is a member of the Japan Children's Book Artists Society. Major works include Natsuyasai no Natsuyasumi, Fuyuyasumi no Fuyuyasai, Akiyasai no Akiwasshoi, and Haruyasai no Haruyasumi (written by Hayashi Kirin, Hikari no Kuni), as well as The King's Birthday Present and The King's Picnic (Sekai Bunka Publishing). In 2019, she published her first original picture book, Mr. Gorton's Potato (Akachan to Mama Publishing). She is active across a wide range of fields including books, magazines, and advertising. Her work is characterized by a gentle, humorous worldview and a distinctive style that blends realistic brushwork with a touch of fantasy.
