The Jar of Secret Numbers

What if mathematics could be discovered through kingdoms, mysteries, sunflowers, space exploration, pencils, DNA, and artificial intelligence?

This engaging book brings mathematics and science to life through a collection of imaginative and thought-provoking stories designed to spark curiosity in young readers. Rather than presenting mathematical ideas as abstract formulas, author Vinay Vaidya introduces them through memorable characters, real-world examples, historical discoveries, and fascinating puzzles.

Readers will explore the astonishing chessboard problem, uncover the Fibonacci pattern hidden in sunflowers, journey through magical lands of numbers, discover the beauty of Pascal's Triangle, and learn about Ramanujan's extraordinary relationship with mathematics. The book also ventures beyond traditional mathematics, introducing young minds to Voyager 1, the science inside an ordinary pencil, the language of DNA, and the way artificial intelligence learns from data.

Written especially for students and curious learners, these stories make complex STEM concepts accessible, enjoyable, and meaningful. The book aims not only to improve understanding but also to develop a genuine love for applied mathematics, science, discovery, and logical thinking.

With a special emphasis on inspiring girls to explore STEM fields, this revised edition encourages every reader to question, imagine, experiment, and recognise that mathematics is not limited to textbooks-it is present everywhere around us.

An ideal book for students, parents, teachers, and anyone who believes that the best way to learn is through a powerful story.
