Unbacked mostly uncolored sea chart of the island of Java. fine condition, small tears at edges. 12 inset charts of coasts and harbors, including a large plan of Batavia Bay. Shows the Sunda Strait and small tips of Sumatra and Bali. Engraved by J. Walker, published by the British Hydrographic Office from Dutch surveys. Ownership signature on verso by M. J. Milliken (of Newburyport?) of the Barque Mary and Jane, 1853. There is a pencil note on the verso in the same hand, "New York to San Francisco, - Singapore and Penang, Thence to New York, with general Cargo of Junk Tea, Pepper, Spices, &c. 1853.".
