Jean De La Fontaine The Fables

Stated as the 1975 edition by Jupiter Books, London. It is profusely illustrated in drawings, by Gustave Dore. Many of Dore's drawings border the text and many others fill the entire page. This book is oversize - 9" W by 12" L. La Fontaine's fables presented in this book were translated into English language in the early 1842 by Elizur Wright. There are approximately 140+ fables which are presented both in French AND English. Interior pages are clean with NO folds, writing or tears. Pages are very bright and clean. First title page has the bottom corner cut out. Red cloth covered boards are clean and in VG condition. Covers are lightly rubbed and with light edge wear. Gilded illustration and lettering on spine is readable and shiny. This is NOT an ex-lib nor a remainder. Rare to find a children's book that is 71 years old in such good condition. Note: We use "Fine" book condition judiciously; only when the book exhibits no flaws. A Fine book closely approaches ‘As New’ condition and may not have been previously owned. Any flaws (writing, tears, creases) are exceptions to a Fine condition and should be clearly described for a book and dust jacket.…
