An important duo-exhibition catalog documenting this year'sretrospectives of the work of internationally renowned Dutchcollaborators Jeroen de Rijke and Willem de Rooij. The complementaryexhibitions, at the K21 (Contemporary Art Museum in Dusseldorf) andMAMbo (Museo d Arte Moderna di Bologna) - both prominentinstitutions in the contemporary art scene - are the first since de Rijke'sdeath in 2006. The pair's visually provocative films, installations, photosand printed material since 1994 are essentially an investigation of themeaning of presentation and representation, obliging the observertowards an awareness that shifts from aesthetic appreciation towardsthe enhancement of awareness. Films are only one part of their work:other key, self-referential elements are the spaces in which it ispresented, including furniture - all empty, yet sculpturally present.
