Jesus and the Politics of his Day (Cambridge Paperback Library) (Volume 0)

This collection - which has established itself since publication as one of the best surveys of the subject - investigates issues of great importance to our knowledge of Jesus in its balanced appraisal of his contact with the armed resistance movement of his day.

Whether or not Jesus was involved with the Zealot movement of armed resistance to Rome is the provocative question this collection attempts to answer. Twenty-six articles concentrate on four areas: methodology, the historical situation, New Testament exegesis, and the trials of Jesus before the Sanhedrin and Pilate.
