These studies, then, are not to be taken as an exhaustive review of what has been already said by others. They are fresh investigations with the aid of new instruments. They may even be thought by some to be amateurish, but that is a first impression which will soon pass off. It is evident that the writer has brought to his theme a spiritual vision, and that those who follow his leading patiently will often find themselves enriched, not only in the knowledge of the letter, but still more in the perception of the things of God, which the men of the Spirit share with one another and communicate to one another. --From the Preface
