Store description

Decorative Painting Bookstore is a family-owned online bookshop offering instructional books, pattern booklets, and craft magazines for decorative painting, tole painting, folk art, macramé, and dozens of other crafts. We're a mother-daughter team Dawn and Amber operating from our warehouse in Largo, Florida. Our family has been in the craft business since 1977, when Curtis and Dawn King founded King's Kountry in Michigan during the peak of the macramé era, manufacturing their own line of premium macramé cord and producing pattern booklets that Dawn herself designed and taught through evening classes. Amber took over King's Kountry from her father in 2014 and added Decorative Painting Bookstore to the family in 2022. Both inventories now ship from the same Florida warehouse. Our AbeBooks catalog spans three threads: Decorative painting & tole painting books: brand new copies sourced directly from publishers and artists. Many titles are out-of-print and hard to find elsewhere. Featured artists include Sandra Malone, Annie Lang, Debbie Toews, and many more. Vintage craft booklets (New Old Stock): original unread copies covering papier mache, fabric painting, dip 'n drape, pom pom crafts, sand art, leather, scrapbooking, and many other techniques. Published from the 1970s onward and warehoused since, in original condition. Vintage macramé books and patterns: a period-correct resource drawn from our original 1970s 1990s King's Kountry inventory. Most items are in brand new or new-old-stock condition; a smaller number are graded Very Good for shelf-worn copies from retiring retail shops. Each listing's condition is described in detail. Service: emails answered within 24 hours. Shipping Monday through Friday, usually same or next day. Dawn & Amber
