Job. OT Daily Study Bible Series

John C. L. Gibson explores the profound and timeless story of Job, urging readers to confront the book's challenges and find meaning and peace.

One of the most challenging books of the Bible, Job is a literary work of great majesty and power. In this commentary, John C. L. Gibson helps contemporary readers explore the timeless story of the afflicted Job and its meaning for today. Gibson asks that we make every effort to do what the first readers were supposed to do, that is, "Let this unsophisticated story [chapters 1-2] set the scene for the sophisticated debate to follow… No book before or since has so pitilessly confronted [human beings] with the claims of the One in whom alone their soiled and burdened lives can find meaning and peace. To read and study the Book of Job is to grow up in the faith with a vengeance; and that is worth all the theology in the world."

The Daily Study Bible series seamlessly continues the legacy of William Barclay’s renowned New Testament series by delving into the texts of the Old Testament, weaving together ancient wisdom and modern insights for a transformative reading experience. Perfectly tailored for individual study, spirited group discussions, or classroom exploration, the Daily Study Bible series offers an indispensable resource for spiritual seekers and scholars alike. Within these volumes, readers will encounter a profound exploration of the Scriptures, uncovering the profound messages they held in the past and discerning their relevance in the present.
