The Jonette Jewelry Company (Paperback or Softback)

Step behind the scenes of one of America's most beloved costume jewelry companies. JJ: The Jonette Jewelry Story traces the remarkable rise of the Lisker family-Russian immigrants whose hard work, talent, and imagination built a company that delighted collectors for decades.

Blending history, artistry, and personal narrative, this book explores JJ's origins in Providence, Rhode Island; the creative contributions of Abraham Lisker, his sons Gordon and David; and the designers and employees who brought their whimsical visions to life. Archival sketches, rare photographs, and insider memories illuminate how JJ produced affordable, charming pieces that became national favorites.

From dragons, wizards, and mermaids to wildlife, professions, seasonal themes, and the popular Santa Fe line, JJ's designs span a dazzling array of subjects. Readers will also discover how the company navigated manufacturing challenges, imitators, and even a few legal surprises- including a cease-and-desist from Jim Henson himself.

With exclusive access to JJ's records and stories preserved after its 2006 closure, authors Nancy Rozendal and Barbara Roesch Rokow offer a warm, engaging tribute to a cherished American brand. Whether you are a collector, vendor, or simply someone who appreciates creativity and history, this book invites you to rediscover the magic of JJ jewelry.
