An attractive copy of this Jorrocks novel. Jorrocks's Jaunts & Jollities; The Hunting, Shooting, Racing Driving, Sailing, Eccentric and Extravagant Exploits of that Renowned Sporting Citizen, Mr. John Jorrocks. By R. S. Surtees, with Sixteen Illustrations by Henry Alken, printed in colours. New Edition. Published by George Routledge and Sons, Limited, London. Printed by Ballantyne, Hanson & Co., Edinburgh and London. No stated printing date, but c. 1880. A very good, attractive hardback in original Publisher's binding with black and gilt decoration. Minor wear and sun fading to spine. Bumping to head and tail, and cloth frayed for 1cm at rear joint at head of spine. A little give in the spine, which is slightly skewed. Endpapers with age spotting and previous owner's signature to first free endpaper. Text and plates are bright and clean throughout and present well. Text in English. viii + 272pp + 16 coloured plates, including frontispiece, which is tissue guarded (with age toning to guard). Dimensions: approximately 233mm tall x 160mm wide x 36mm deep.
