Jamie had BIG dreams. He wanted to be a prince. He wanted his dad to marry a lovely young woman called Mary. He wanted an army of little brothers and sisters who would look up to him and think how clever and important he was.
But at no point did he expect one of them to be a long-awaited king, destined to reign forever. Nope. Not part of the plan...
JOSEPH'S BOY is the first book of The Young Testament, a fun, accessible series of Middle Grade novels on the Jesus story, with the children as the main characters.
Wonderfully uplifting to read aloud as a family, for Advent or over the festive season. Great to enjoy on your own too, whether you’re young or old(er).
Make it a new part of your Christmas tradition – or grab some awe-inspiring sparkle at any time of the year!
JOSEPH'S BOY is ideal for the young readers in your life to:
- immerse themselves in the joys and dangers of the Christmas story as it unfolds, as if they were right there
- discover how the plans on God’s heart come together at Jesus’s birth, as they explore ancient prophecies from the viewpoint of the preteen protagonists
- dig deeper into the culture, history and geography of the First Century in a way that is exciting, entertaining and relevant
- learn more about core beliefs of Christianity, simply presented and easy to understand whether the Bible is already familiar to them or completely new. Also some of the key feasts and practices of Temple Judaism – a perfect complement to their school studies on World Religions
The Young Testament series of full-length Bible retellings can be read out of order or even on their own, but together they overlap to form one big story world showing life at the time of Jesus.
JOSEPH'S BOY covers the birth and childhood, while JAIRUS'S GIRL follows the Galilee side of the grown-up Jesus and THAT WOMAN'S GIRL is set in Samaria - an outsider's take on Jesus! Next up is MIRIAM'S BOY, the Jerusalem view of the Jesus story.

About the Author
As an actor Lynn has played parts ranging from Lady Macbeth to Mole, and recently made her West End debut in an amazing lead role, understudying the mighty Stockard Channing and going on a number of times. She also appeared in season 3 of UNFORGOTTEN for ITV.
Her one-woman show has played a variety of venues, including the only part of Glastonbury Abbey still standing (not her fault).
Lynn's claim to fame is that she once won an episode of TV quiz show FIFTEEN TO ONE.

Store description
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
