Ex-library with relatively few library markings. Map on p. 30 present but missing map in the back. Front board detached and back board loose, but interior binding nice and tight. Interior good with marbled end pages - a bit of foxing and smudges throughout. Unused bookplate inside front board; library card and pocket inside rear board and on rear end page. Half-bound leather marbled boards with stamped gilt design and rubbed title paste down on ribbed spine; boards well worn. Speke's journal of his expeditions seeking the source of the Nile. Black and white illustrations throughout, many by Captain J.W. Grant, a member of the expedition. Tissue guard on frontis and other portraits. 590pp., including appendix.
