In fair condition. Spines are in poor condition with chipping and segments missing. Cloth is worn along edges and discolored by sun damage. Foxing on end papers. Gutters are shaken in both volumes. Binding intact, but shaken. Unmarked. Please see photos. Third Edition. Richard Lander had previously served with Clapperton on the latter, second and last expedition into the African interior, his account of which was published in two volumes in 1830. That year lander, together with his brother John, undertook and expedition to explore the course and termination of the Niger River. They accomplished their mission, and arrived back in England in July of 1831.
