The rare first edition of which only about 65 copies were saved from a fire which destroyed the remainder at the printer's office. Here printed for the first time from an original manuscript now at Laval University, the first section, covering the years 1645-1668, of a private daily journal kept by the Jesuit superior at Quebec: with its spontaneous expression and considerable detail, an indispensable companion to the official Relations.
