In a short and appropriate address, returned hie ao ded to the election of Secretary, and on enacting the ballots, Hugh Archer received fifteen votes, and was declared duly elected Secretary of the Senate. On motion, the Senate proceeded to the election of a Messen ger and Doorlteeper. The names of A. G. Mclean and Charles F. Fitchett, were in nomination. Lie-ere. Kelly, Carter, and Breward, were appointed Tellers. On the let balloting. A. G. Mclean received Charles p.fitel1ett received On the 2d balloting, the votes were For A. G. Mclean For Charles F. Fitchett On the 8d balloting, the vote was A. G. Mclean Charles F. Fitchett 011 the eth balloting, the vote steed Holman 8 vetee. Fitchett s u Hr. Broward moved to reconsider the motion to go into an else tion for Messenger and Dccrlteeper, which motion was negatived. Mr. Kelly moved that the election for the present be poetpcned; motion prevailed. On motion of Mr Kelly, a Committee of three were appointed to inform the House that the Senate had organized, by the election of a President and Secretary, and was ready to proceed to buai.
