Journey To Faith, Volume 1: The Existence Of God: How Can I Know This?

Since the dawn of creation, a state of war has existed between the forces of good and evil. I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will strike at your head, while you strike at his heel. Genesis 3:15 This battle for the hearts and minds of every man and woman has raged for eons, but never has it been more intense and critical than today. Blessed from that very moment when the Lord God ...blew into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being .... Gn 2:7, human beings had the ability to know and love because they were special creatures: Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. Gn 1:26 This relationship between Creator and creature began with infinite love and the simple requirement of trust and obedience on the part of man. This creature, fashioned with such hope, love, and promise, however, would soon turn his attention away from his Creator to focus his capacity for knowledge and love upon himself, the world, and other gods. Unfortunately, in spite of the passion and death of His only Son sent to redeem man from this disobedience, and to make all things new again Rev 21:5, many still focus all their attention on themselves, the world, and other gods. The mission of the Church is to spread the Good News that Jesus Christ has revealed to us, and to combat those forces that divert our attention away from The Father and his plans for us. This is a most difficult challenge in our time because of the tremendous allure and packaging of secularism, and the misinformation and misstatement of truth offered by modern philosophies and movements focused on man as the center of the universe. Amid the explosion of information in the computer age, mind-boggling technological development and scientific discovery, and a growing disdain for the values of the past, the very dignity and nobility of individual human life is now at risk. We find ourselves in a struggle for the survival of not only our Faith, but our own sanity. Without refocusing our ability to know and love God, we may well become forever children of a paradise lost.

John retired from a career in Public & Governmental Affairs in the automotive industry and teaching university level business courses, holds an undergraduate degree in philosophy, English, and theology, along with two Masters Degrees in Psychology and Business Administration. He resides in Northville, Michigan with his wife, Natalie, a retired elementary teacher. John, Jr. MBA, James MS, MD, and Margaret MD, work respectively in Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania where they provide homes for ten grandchildren. Mr. LaCroix continues his very active private life as a motivational speaker, writer, mentor, teacher, and painter.
