The Journey I Never Chose

A cancer diagnosis was never part of the plan.

Esther Rohly entered 2026 looking forward to family, writing, church, travel, and watching her long-awaited grandson grow. Then one morning, she found a lump in her breast, and everything changed.

What followed was a journey through breast cancer, surgery, unexpected complications, reconstruction, fear, grief, laughter, and recovery. There were nights when worry came easily, days when her body no longer felt like her own, and moments when she wondered how much more she could handle.

But there were also prayers.

There were friends who showed up, meals delivered by people she barely knew, children who stepped in to help, doctors and nurses who cared, and a husband who remained faithfully beside her through every appointment, surgery, drain, medication, and difficult night.

Most of all, there was God.

In The Journey I Never Chose, Esther shares an honest and deeply personal account of walking through breast cancer with faith. She does not pretend that trusting God removed the fear or answered every question. Instead, she discovered that faith meant taking one step at a time, choosing joy when she could, and learning to notice the "little hallelujahs" hidden inside even the hardest days.

This tender, hopeful memoir with gentle humor shows that unchosen paths can bring love, strength, and God's faithfulness.

You may not know what tomorrow holds.

But you can know the One who walks into it with you.
