Jqueryfordesigners: Beginner'sguide (Paperback or Softback)

A step-by-step guide that spices up your web pages and designs them in the way you want using the most widely used JavaScript library, jQuery. The beginner-friendly and easy-to-understand approach of the book will help get to grips with jQuery in no time.

If you know the fundamentals of HTML and CSS, and want to extend your knowledge by learning to use JavaScript, then this is just the book for you. jQuery makes JavaScript straightforward and approachable you'll be surprised at how easy it can be to add animations and special effects to your beautifully designed pages.

I have a background in design and have gradually transitioned over time to becoming a developer. I really struggled to learn JavaScript, so when Packt Publishing approached me and asked me to write a book on jQuery just for designers, I jumped at the chance. I wanted to create the book I wish I'd had when I was trying to learn.

So many jQuery and JavaScript books assume a background in coding and it can be really tough as a designer to learn all the right words and concepts while also trying to learn the language. I tried to make learning a bit of code fun and interesting and completely non-scary.

In association with this book, I've also created a weekly screencast called Designers Learning jQuery that provides a quick weekly lesson on jQuery aimed at designers, just like this book. Please check it out to get a feel for my teaching style and for some helpful extra tips on jQuery and JavaScript!

It's a gentle introduction that will get you up and running in very short order and able to create some nice effects on your sites - impress your clients, increase your income, and expand your skill set.
