Judaism Excelled, Or ; The Tale Of A Conversion From Judaism To Christianity. Being The Autobiography Of Jonas Abraham Davis. 2Nd Ed. Rev. And Rewritten by Jonas Abraham Davis. This memoir traces Jonas Davis's life from his birth in London to Jewish parents, through early schooling in Brixton, and his growing religious prejudices as he moves between Jewish and Gentile institutions. It recounts a dramatic conversion to Christianity in 1834 after exposure to Jewish and Christian debates, his ensuing trials with family opposition and social ostracism, and his eventual call to ministry in the United States, including ordination in 1839. The work blends personal narrative with reflections on Judaism, Messianic expectation, and the transforming power of faith. Davis narrates episodes of love, flight, and steadfast faith as he honors his Christian calling and his duties as a pastor, offering a vivid portrait of 19th-century religious conversion and the intersection of ethnicity, religion, and identity.
