Born in Argentina in 1928, Le Parc moved to France in 1958, where he settled. His story offers a fascinating insight into the evolving practice of an artist endlessly experimenting with dynamic visual effects.

About the Author

Val Ravaglia is curator, Displays & International Art at Tate Modern, London. They have a special interest in the intersections of art, science, and technology, non-anthropocentric philosophies, and the post-humanities, curating Electric Dreams: Art and Technology Before the Internet (2024–25) and A Year in Art: Australia 1992 (2021–23), as well as the touring Tate exhibition The Dynamic Eye: Beyond Op and Kinetic Art.
