This striking edition is bound in full genuine green leather with elaborate gilt bamboo and foliage decoration to the covers and spine, raised bands, and gilt lettering. Features include gilt page edges, moiré silk endpapers, and a silk ribbon page marker. The book was published as part of Easton Press's celebrated “100 Greatest Books Ever Written” collection. The volume contains selections from both The Jungle Book and The Second Jungle Book, including the famous Mowgli stories, together with the other tales selected for this edition. David Gentleman's illustrations complement the text throughout. The book is clean, tight, and square, with attractive green leather and bright gilt decoration. The gilt page edges remain very nice. There is some light cosmetic wear to the leather at the extremities and minor age-related toning to portions of the gilt page edges, but overall this is a very attractive collector's copy.
