(22cm. tall x 13cm.). pp. viii, 588; xi, 518; & xiii, 424*. 5 folding facsimiles of Junius' manuscript letters. 1 engraved plate of Junius' seals.From the library of Campbell of Stonefield with his circular bookplate on each front pastedown. In a mid - 19th Century full calf binding by J. Carss, Glasgow. Red leather gilt labelled spines with gilt ruled raised bands. The panels are blind stamped. Boards have blind ruling. There is slight rubbing of the leather, and Vol. I has a 4cm. scuff on the lower edge of the front board. There is some foxing throughout. The last 3 leaves of Vol. III. have had 7cm. repairs to the inner margins. *It would appear that these damaged leaves were all that was salvaged from the later signatures of this volume at rebinding. It ends at 224 and 254 pages are called for. This results in the loss of 8 of the miscellaneous letters. This is still a handsome sound set.
