Junius : Stat Nominis Umbra. 2 Volume Set

2 volume set. Spines darkened and worn. Hinges cracked. Boards detached. Bound in contemporary full leather boards. Poor condition. Bookplate of Edmund Waller Rundell on verso. Originally published in the London Public Advisor from Jan. 21, 1769 to Jan. 21, 1772, under the pseudonym of "Junius" (possibly Sir Philip Francis). " Junius poured brilliantly slanderous invective upon Tory-minded English ministers, especially the Duke of Grafton, for a series of inconsistent measures which allegedly ruined England. Junius prophesised early that the colonies eventual aim would be independence. This is an oversized or heavy book, which requires additional postage for international delivery outside the US.
