It's 1930s Baltimore, a time of Mafia, alcohol and corruption--and Charles Hellesea is about to lose the family business due to his drinking. Jimsecor does not like to write biographies or pieces that tout his accomplishments. He feels they are used car salesmanish. He is, at best, self-deprecatory, though, if you catch him at the odd moment, you can get him to admit he's accomplished something. He's asked me to write this, so I get to brag a little about my long-time friend and confidante. Jimsecor is the first and only member of his family to get a college degree--and he has three of them. He says, though, that perhaps he's over-educated, at least for an artist. He was heavily involved in the alternative theatre of the late 1960's-early 1970's. He isstill involved in social activism, emphasizing the mentally ill. After eking out a PhD in Japanese theatre, Jimsecor went to Japan and, during his five years there, became the first--and possibly the only--foreigner to study at the National Puppet Theatre (Bunraku), a protected national heritage. Otherwise, he taught and, he says, spent all his money on Kabuki and beer while writing award winning tanka. Jimsecor went China in 2002, returning in 2010. He taught literature, writing and drama, produced four times, including with a broken his leg, as a woman in one play and, at Sun Yat-sen University (Zhongshan University), produced an all-female Lysistrata, upstaging The Lysistrata Project's 2002 secret readings. A government man filmed the production but there were no repercussions. In 2008, Jimsecor published, in Chinese, in a leading poetry anthology, Star's Poetry. Since his return to the US in 2010, Jimsecor has published in a horror anthology (3 stories), The Speed of Dark; a detective casebook, Det. Lupée: The Impossible Cases; a Kindle fast read, Oedipus' Blame; and expects another anthology inclusion, title of book yet unknown.
