K-Link: Curiosity as a Force of the Mind – Exploring Wilfred Bion's Psychoanalytic Theory and Its Implications for Clinical and Cultural Practice

In a world saturated with information and poor in deep reflection, this book proposes a new avenue for understanding how the human mind learns, creates, and transforms—not just through reason, but through emotion, questioning, and curiosity. Starting from the seminal work of Wilfred Bion, the author William Marcos presents the concept of K (Knowledge) bond as a link between the subject who seeks to know and the object that allows himself to be known — between the human who feels and the reality he provokes.

The work is structured in three parts:

• Part I – Theoretical Foundations: Introduction to Bionian thinking, the L (Love) and H (Hate) links and the alpha function, showing how emotional experience is transformed into knowledge.
• Part II – Curiosity as an Emotional Experience: Exploration of curiosity in clinical, cultural, and historical contexts, demonstrating that the K bond requires tolerance for not knowing, frustration, and integrated emotion.
• Part III – Applications and Repercussions: Applies the K link to the clinic, education and collective knowledge, offering clinical cases, historical examples, and prospective reflections on human knowledge.

The author combines theoretical rigor with practical clarity: psychoanalyst and philosopher, William Marcos presents his trajectory in the office, his supervised research and the articulation between theory and practice. It shows how the K link offers concrete resources for analysts, educators, and anyone interested in understanding human thought and cultural evolution.
Reading for the public::

• Educators, pedagogues and learning professionals are interested in emotional epistemology and methodologies that go beyond the mere transmission of content.
• Researchers and readers in the humanities, philosophy, psychology, and cultural studies who want to explore how curiosity acts as a driving force of knowledge and civilization.

This book offers not only understanding, but also an invitation: to ethical reflection on knowledge; to clinical practice that integrates emotion and thought, and to the culture that values curiosity as transformative energy. If you want to stop accumulating information to, in fact, transform experience into knowledge, this book is your guide.
