Small folio size, 9" x12" In 1994 the Musees de Marseille M.A.O.O. mounted a stunning, precedent setting exhibition of Hopi kachinas. Drawn from European (German, Austrian, Swiss, Belgian, Danish, Norwegian, and British) museum and private collections (including Horst Antes') and two U.S. museum collections, the exhibition dazzled its European viewers both in the beauty of the presentation and the beauty of these never or seldom seen kachinas. In addition to the lovely photographs, this catalogue (already out of print) of the exhibtion includes two essays (in French) that discuss the iconography and symbolism of each kachina.
