v, 48 pages of text plus 72 leaves of photographs. The sculptural art of the Kalabari people of the eastern Niger Delta appears infrequently in the literature, and seldom--if at all--has it been examined as closely as in this long out of print study. Examining both Kalabari wood sculpture and cult-objects in other materials, the text also discusses sculpture from other Ijo-speaking peoples. The majority of the photographs are of unpublished material and were taken in situ.
