In the latest volume in a manga mystery series originating in the U.S., classmates Kat Foster and Mouse (Mee-Seen Huang) go on a field trip to the art museum with their teacher. While some of the students ditch to go shopping, Kat and Mouse patch up a misunderstanding (Mouse has a crush on Mr. Templar, who asked Kat to be his assistant for the field trip) and continue their investigation into the thefts committed by a mysterious thief called the Artful Dodger. Then a famous painting is stolen while the class is in the museum. Kat and Mouse are appealing outsider protagonists, and each volume in the series allows them to solve a mystery while continuing the Artful Dodger story line. An easy-to-follow panel layout and clear black-and-white drawings with just enough detail make this book easy for readers new to manga. Kat Kan
