KIT KATS: SAFC?s Stadium of Light Kit?s Story: SAFC's Stadium of Light Kit Story

Interest in and passion for football shirts is an integral part of the modern game. For many the matchday outfit centres around the wearing of your team’s shirt.

Fans scramble to obtain newly released kits to wear on holiday, as sportswear becomes a fashion statement.

Wearing a footy shirt is about much more than simply sporting the latest fad or trend. For Sunderland supporters showing their red and white stripes is about illustrating their identity with their team and their community.

Kit Cats examines each Sunderland home, away and goalkeeper kit since the club moved to the Stadium of Light in 1997. Written by shirt specialist Andrew Smithson and club historian Rob Mason, Kit Cats delves into the detail of each season’s full kits along with an outline of how successful Sunderland AFC were in each outfit.

There is also a section on every strip Sunderland have worn at Wembley, a fascinating exploration of rare kits worn on only one or two occasions and a ‘Kitstory’ chapter tracing the progression of Sunderland’s strips from the club’s earliest days when they wore blue.

Sunderland of course are synonymous with red and white stripes and have won more major trophies than all the other English clubs who wear red and white stripes combined.

With a Foreword by Lee Cattermole who wore 23 kits in his time at Sunderland, Kit Cats will satisfy Sunderland supporters for longer than just break-time!
