Born and raised as an orphan, Kaden Chalson never dreamed that he would one day become part of anything prestigious. But it happens now: he is told, right outside of his house, that he is soon to enter the great Halpest School of Witchcraft.

Kaden soon learns that his parents, whom he never knew, belonged to an aristocratic family in the ancient world of magic. But how did they die? What were their lives like? He very much wants to find out.

And what hides in the dark, mysterious spruce forest on the campus? Together with his best friend Mick Boost, Kaden is set to discover the secrets.

Ever since she first learned how to read, Ketty Kuang has always loved reading science fiction and spending time imagining all sorts of impossible things. These things are fascinating precisely because they are highly unlikely to take place. Having lived overseas for some years, Ketty realised that Halloween is the time for children to imagine all sorts of impossible things. From Batman and Spider Man to Disney's princesses, and then to the witches and wizards commonly seen in this unique event, children get to imagine themselves being whatever and whoever they dress up as. What she also learned is that if you want to write, then you should just go ahead and do it. So she did... with the result being her first book, Kaden Chalson: Entity in the Spruce Forest.
