About the Authors
Craig C. Trinajstic is an editor, illustrator, layout designer, graphic designer, and marketer-the guy behind the scenes bringing all the pieces together into the books you read. A 100% service-connected disabled U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Craig brings technical knowledge, creativity, determination, and attention to detail to every project.Outside of publishing, Craig is the creator of Medellín Knitting, where he designs knitting patterns and produces YouTube videos reviewing knitting tools, equipment, yarns, and other products for the fiber arts community. His love of graphics, knitting, and design often brings those worlds together, whether he is creating a book, developing a pattern, producing a video, or working on a new design.Fueled by plenty of coffee and a constant stream of ideas, Craig brings passion, personality, and persistence to everything he works on.
A.P. Koski is a family man from Idaho who writes the kinds of stories he wants his own children to read-adventures that are exciting, imaginative, and meaningful without feeling like a lesson disguised as homework. At the heart of his writing is the belief that children often learn best when they are allowed to discover the lesson for themselves. Rather than telling young readers what to think, Koski places his characters in situations where choices have consequences and qualities such as kindness, honesty, patience, responsibility, perseverance, and good judgment emerge naturally through the story. His goal is simple: entertain first, while quietly giving young readers something worthwhile to carry with them after the adventure ends. The humor, mystery, unusual characters, and unexpected journeys are designed to keep children turning pages, while the deeper ideas encourage them to think about their own choices and the people around them.Koski is also passionate about bringing shorter novels and novellas back to younger readers. He believes children should have access to complete, satisfying stories that challenge their imaginations without overwhelming them with hundreds of pages. His books are written to help developing and reluctant readers experience the confidence and enjoyment that comes from finishing a real adventure. For A.P. Koski, a great children's book should make a young reader want to know what happens next-and leave a parent feeling that the time spent reading it was worthwhile.
Following in her father's footsteps, Lenni K. brings a younger writer's imagination, creativity, and sense of fun to The Portal Series. As co-author of Kat and the Candy Door alongside her father, A.P. Koski, Lenni adds a fresh perspective and a youthful voice to the strange and imaginative world of the portals. With ideas fueled by curiosity and a vivid imagination, Lenni helps bring a new generation's point of view to the series-and this is only the beginning of her journey as a writer.
