This book of poems depicts my Hurricane Katrina pet rescue efforts and some of the remarkable souls I encountered on the Gulf; stories of both victims and rescuers; stories that I will remember for the rest of my natural days.
Ed Kostro is an animal and nature lover, shelter volunteer, and now, a Hurricane Katrina pet rescuer. He’s also a published writer whose credits include Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover’s Soul; Cats Do It Better than People; Pets: part of the family; and numerous other publications.
Ed has written five books, including his nonfiction memoir, Curious Creatures-Wondrous Waifs, My Life with Animals, which was awarded a Certificate of Excellence in the 2004 International Cat Writers’ Association Communication Contest.
Ed currently resides in Illinois with his wife Rebecca and several rescued dogs and cats, including three ‘left behind’ hurricane pets he recently brought home from the Gulf Coast.
