The first portion provides an overview of the character and origin of the Hawaiian Islands. The second portion deals specifically with the Geology of Kauai. Thirdly, specific places on Kauai are described, such as the Waimea Canyon, Na Pali Coast and Mahaulepu. Finally a portion that places Hawaii into a global Geologic timeline.

About the Author

Chuck Blay is a geoscientist with a Ph.D. in geology from Indiana Univer-sity. Prior to establishing a residence on Kauai in 1995 he accumulated over 25 years of teaching, research and con-sulting as a sedimentary geologist, including 7 years as a university pro-fessor, 5 years in industry research and 14 years as an international consultant in the petroleum industry. Robert Siemers received his Bachelor of Arts degrees in Physical Geography and Environmental Conservation from the University of Colorado at Boulder with additional studies at the University of Wollongong in Australia and Harvard.
